THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND PROPELLE
There is a gender gap in outdoor participation.
We can do better.
Countless studies have consistently proven the importance of spending time outside, both as adults and as children. Research has shown that outdoor experiences lead to a sense of self-confidence, increased focus and creativity, and reduced anxiety and depression, as well as improved mental and physical well-being.

But studies show that women and girls are significantly less likely to experience outdoor time than their male counterparts.

Propelle wants to ensure a future where all women and girls – regardless of background, race, ethnicity or identity – can enjoy the confidence and skills to thrive in our outdoor playground.
Our Mission
Propelle believes in making outdoor spaces open and inclusive and empowers women and girls to lead and succeed through wilderness exploration.

Propelle seeks to:
-
Increase the participation and diversity of women in outdoor recreation. We encourage attitudes which foster supportive and inclusive outdoor communities.
-
Remove the barriers (conceptual, financial, and logistical) that might prevent women and girls from participating in outdoor pursuits.
-
Foster women’s self-confidence in their physical, intellectual, and leadership abilities while creating lifelong advocates for wilderness stewardship.
-
Provide an inclusive experience where participants of different races, ethnicities, heritages, sexual orientations, gender identities, faiths, ability levels, economic statuses, and geographic settings are learning together and from each other.
